Vivid ENGSO meetings in the Eternal City
Updated: Nov 20, 2019
On 5-6 April, the ENGSO Executive Committee, the ENGSO Equality Within Sport (EWS) Committee and the ENGSO Youth Committee held several meetings in the CONI Palace in Rome, including a joint session.
On the first day, the ENGSO Executive Committee held its meeting, the first one after their previous gathering in January in London. They discussed the ENGSO Strategy 2020-2023, the Erasmus+ Sport 2020 proposals in which ENGSO takes part, they had a session about finances and continued the preparations for the ENGSO General Assembly 2019.
The Executive Committee members also had the chance to meet the delegates of OPES Italia, which is the entity responsible for ENGSO affairs under the umbrella of the Italian ENGSO member, CONI. The OPES Italia representatives gave the ENGSO Executive Committee members a brief introduction to their organisation and reaffirmed the Committee their interest in deepening their engagement in ENGSO. The Executive Committee members were delighted to meet their colleagues from OPES and thanked them for their wonderful hospitality.
On the same day, the ENGSO EWS Committee also had its own meeting, where they discussed the most important issues related to equality in sport in Europe.
Over the second day, all bodies had their separate meetings, and they also got together to hold a joint session. That united meeting was facilitated by ENGSO Youth and it was an opportunity to brainstorm on common initiatives and synergies between ENGSO, ENGSO Youth and EWS. After the joint session, the participants gathered outside in the sunshine and celebrated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace by taking a #WhiteCard group photo.
This meeting was the last in-person gathering for the three ENGSO bodies before their representatives – along with many of our members – meet at our General Assembly in Frankfurt in June.
