The 6th European Week of Sport went virtual
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s European Week of Sport was very different from the earlier editions. Since the launch of the #BeActive campaign in 2015, ENGSO has been actively contributing to it each year. It wasn't any different this year either.
On 23 September, the Opening Event of the European Week of Sport was held in Frankfurt, Germany and those people who could not attend it in person, could follow it online. The ceremony was the perfect combination of speeches and video messages of high-level politicians and some breath-taking #BeActive spectacles. Our Treasurer, Michael Leyendecker was present at the event, while numerous ENGSO family members followed the livestream.
On 24 September, a highly interesting Presidency Conference took place online, entitled “Partnerships for Physical Activity and Sport – Be(come) Active!” Due to the virtual format, hundreds of people – including various representatives of ENGSO – followed the event and took part in the discussions through the live chat. All the conference presentations are accessible here.

Throughout the week, ENGSO contributed to the #BeActive celebrations by launching our #SupportYourClub campaign. Our Erasmus+ Sport collaborative partnership project, CHAMP has gathered the most significant challenges that sport clubs encounter due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ENGSO, along with the CHAMP project consortium, raised awareness of the difficult situation of sport clubs across the continent by the #SupportYourClub digital campaign, which was spread throughout our various social media channels. Here you can have a look at the campaign video:
ENGSO Youth was incredibly engaging throughout the week, encouraging its audience on social media to #BeActive. Below you can have a look at a video compilation of their best moves.
