SCORE project raises interest in the EU Sport Forum – Toolkit is available online

SCORE project

SCORE (Strengthening Coaching with the Objective to Raise Equality) project on gender equality in coaching was led by ENGSO and co-financed by the Erasmus+ sport programme of the European Union. Altough it has finished at the end of 2016, dissemination work is still ongoing. In addition to the project partners’ dissemination activities in their respective countries, SCORE had a stand at the annual EU Sport Forum in Malta. The stand awakened interest and created good discussions with the participants of the Forum. Also Commissioner Tibor Navracsics visited it and was very keen on to learn more about the reasons that had lead to the underrepresentation of women in coaching. As the project findings reveal, one major reason is culture and existing organisational structures. The SCORE Gender Equality in Coaching Interactive Toolkit was developed by the project partners to overcome these challenges. It includes tools for sport organisations to address the lack of women in coaching and change their organisational culture. The toolkit contains information and good practice examples in four different areas – planning, recruiting, developing and retaining.

Active dissemination of the project outcomes will continue, and SCORE will be for instance presented at the annual conference of the European University Sports Association in Coimbra, Portugal at the beginning of April.
