Our member, DIF signs partnership agreement with Amnesty International
On the 3rd of September, the National Olympic Committee and Sport Confederation of Denmark (DIF) has signed a partnership agreement with Amnesty International Denmark.
The purpose of this agreement is to keep DIF informed about the human rights situation in connection with allocation, hosting and the organisation of major international sports events. It is an extension of DIF's international strategy where sustainability related to major sports events is an important element. This includes sustainability in relation to financial, environmental and social conditions.
"The human rights situation is one of the criteria that are included in our considerations when, for example, major championships are awarded. This has always been the case but the partnership with Amnesty will qualify our knowledge in this area and our ability to make more informed decisions. I am convinced that, by working together, we can do it better than by working separately," says DIF's President, Niels Nygaard.
