News from the Kosovo Olympic Committee

Our Kosovan member, the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC) had a busy couple of months, organising several events.

On 19th April, the KOC organised a sports festival for preschoolers in Prishtina. About 2000 children took part in the event, that consisted of competitions in football and various athletic disciplines.

The festival brought together thousands of parents, fans, high-level sports personalities and politicians. The event was officially opened by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi.

On 27th May, the KOC celebrated the 27th anniversary of its foundation. 25 municipalities across the country joined the celebration that was attended by 15000 children, who were all born in 2008, when Kosovo declared its independence.

On 5th June, the KOC celebrated the World Environment Day with the aim to strengthen the role of women in sports. On Prishtina’s Zahir Pajaziti square numerous high-profile people gathered to celebrate, including sport champions, politicians and prominent representatives of culture.
