Our member, the National Olympic Committee of Kosovo has been active in the past months, by organising two celebrations of international days. Here you can read about both.

Kosovo Olympic Committee celebrated IDSDP2018

The Kosovo Olympic Committee celebrated April 6, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace – declared by the United Nations - the third time in a row this year. The event was co-organised by UNDP Kosovo and Play International.

The event took place in Prishtina’s main square, which was turned into a sporting area for the day. The participants enjoyed football, boxing, laser-pistols shooting and frisbee activities. They also raised the White Card, a symbol of the positive power of sport.

5000 children marked the celebrations of Olympic Day in Kosovo

On 25 May, around 5000 children celebrated the Olympic Day 2018 in Kosovo. The event also honored the foundation of the Kosovo Olympic Committee on 27 May 1992.

Activities were organised in seven cities: Pristina, Gjilan, Gjakova, Prizren, Mitrovica, Peja and Ferizaj.

The main activity was held in capital city, Pristina, with over 2500 participants. The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Besim Hasani said to the participating children in his address that “You will run all your life”, pointing to the importance of physical activity throughout the lifetime.
