Great discussions at the first ExCom meeting of the year

The first meeting of ENGSO’s Executive Committee in the new year was held on 27 January in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the morning the participants discussed some strategic and governance topics, such as ENGSO’s Internal Work Plan for 2018, its Sport Policy Programme, the revision of its Statues and the project proposal for the Erasmus+ Sport Programme.

The strategic block was followed by discussions on financial and membership matters, succeeded by reports on past and plans for future events. Some important decisions were also made around this year’s General Assembly. The event will take place on 8-10 June in Visby, Sweden.

The day ended with reports from different working teams within and around ENGSO, namely ENGSO Youth, the Equality Within Sport Committee and ENGSO’s EU Advisory Committee.

ENGSO’s Secretary General, Stefan Bergh, was very satisfied with the outcomes of the meeting:

“It was a productive day with really good discussions. It was especially important to make some decisions on the Policy Programme, revision of Statutes as well as on the project proposal that we will submit for the Erasmus+ Sport Programme in early April.

I’m also really happy about some decisions around our GA in June. It is our main event in the first half of the year and we would really like to make it as attractive to our members and partners as possible. Last year the GA is Paris was a great success and now the standard is very high.”

A day before the meeting a high-level round table discussion took place among the members of the Executive Committee and the representatives of some of our member organisations. It was a great chance to listen to and identify the needs of our members. The representatives present gave valuable input to the planning of ENGSO’s future strategic agenda.

The next Executive Committee meeting is going to be held on 20-21 April in Frankfurt, Germany.
