Five federations completed the Sports Administrator Course
From 26th to 28th of September, five Kosovan national sport federations took part in the Sports Administrator Course in Pristina, organised by the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC).
Representatives of the Kosovo Kick-Box Federation, the Kosovo Triathlon Federation, the Kosovo Muay Thai Federation, the Kosovo Rugby Federation and the Kosovo Workers' Sports Federation attended the three-day course and they learned about the drafting of the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan.
Regular lecturers of the course were: Besim Hasani, Course Programme Director/Olympic Solidarity/International Olympic Committee; Iber Alaj, SO-KON/Programme Director; Elda Gjoka, National Course Director, also licensed by the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Solidarity.
Also, PhD Fitim Arifi presented the scientific research entitled "Body Height in relation to other Anthropometric Parameters for the Population of Kosovo". Moreover, KOC General Secretary, Shasivar Haxhijaj, explained the regulation of the Law on Sponsorship to the participants.
The Sports Administrator Courses are supported by the Olympic Solidarity Programme of the International Olympic Committee.
“Forum for Sport” kicked off the European Week of Sport in Kosovo
Our member, the Kosovan Olympic Committee held its “Forum for Sport” conference on the 23rd of September, which served as the official kick-off event of the European Week of Sport in Kovoso. The Forum was held in the Swiss Diamond Hotel in Prishtina, under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr Kujtim Gashi.
Besides Minister Gashi, who opened the Forum, numerous representatives of his Ministry were present, along with senior representatives of the Kosovo Tax Administration, sports federations, municipalities and businesses.
The topics of the Forum included the Law on Sponsorship, categorisation of sports, and athletes and trainers. Moreover, the issue of the conclusion of the MoUs between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the sports federations, have been discussed. The topic was proposed by the federations.
“I expect today's conclusions to be beneficial to sports. I hope that topics to be addressed will help bring about concrete ideas and plans that will enhance sports in Kosovo. Ever since I took office, I did my best to better the sports infrastructure and make sure that we have a good image in the international sports arena”, said Minister Gashi.
“The chosen topics of the Forum are the ones that preoccupy Kosovo’s sports. The Forum will take place on a regular basis, so that we can jointly give ideas and tackle issues of common interest", said Mr Besim Hasani, President of the Kosovan Olympic Committee in his speech. Later on, he talked about good governance in sport.
The Director of the Kosovo Tax Administration, Mr Ilir Murtezaj, participated in the panel that discussed the Law on Sponsorship and provided necessary explanations for businesses that may sponsor sports and benefit from profit tax relief.
