#ENGSOGA2017: Day 2

On 9-10 June 2017, the General Assembly of ENGSO has been organised for the 25th time. The event n Paris, France, has brought together 20 ENGSO Members to influence ENGSO’s work and activities. The ENGSO Youth Assembly also took place parallel to the General Assembly.

Besides general responsibilities, such as approving budget and activities for 2016 as well as the action plan 2017-2018 and economic plan for 2017, the supreme decision-making body has voted on the accession of the full and associated members. The National Olympic Committee of Kosovo, the Finnish Olympic Committee, replacing Finnish Sports Confederation, which merged to the Olympic Committee, and the Hungarian National Competitive Sport Federation, successor of the non-Olympic branch of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, have become full members of ENGSO. The following organisations are from now on associated members without voting right: Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care, Catalan Union of Sports Federations – UFEC (Union de Federacions Esportives de Catalunya) and the Belgian EU Sport Link.

At the 25th General Assembly, elections have also taken place. The General Assembly has elected Secretary General of the Lithuanian Union of Sports Federations Agne Vanagiene as ENGSO Vice-President and Secretary General of the Swedish Sports Confederation Stefan Bergh as ENGSO Secretary General. The three new Executive Committee Members are: Member of the Directors Board at the Danish Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation Lotte Büchert, Head of International Affairs at the Latvian Sports Federations Council Ilva Ciemite and Secretary General of the Albanian National Olympic Committee Stavri Bello.

ENGSO welcomes our new full and associated members. We are also glad to have new Executive Committee Members with us. We are convinced that their contribution will be a real added value for our organisations and the voluntary sports movement in Europe.

ENGSO would especially thank the French Olympic Committee – CNOSF for hospitality and great organisation of the event. We would also like to express our acknowledgement to our partners, the European Lotteries, the European Commission, the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport of the Council of Europe, the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation, the European University Sports Association and the International Workers and Amateurs in Sports Confederation for honoring our event with their presence.
