ENGSO GA postponed and other updates

Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the ENGSO Executive Committee has decided to postpone the ENGSO General Assembly, due to having been organised in Torshavn, Faroe Islands, on 5–7 June 2020. The General Assembly will be organised at a later date in 2020 and a new date and place will be communicated as soon as possible.

We are living in most exceptional times, touching upon all aspects of our societies – including sport, from daily physical activity routines of individuals, all the way to the very highest level of elite sport. All stakeholders within sport certainly recognise our great responsibility in this matter.

Sport is struggling to cope with the consequences, such as the cancellation of major and minor events, which have dominated sports news everywhere. With the loss of income from sponsorships and event revenues, also sport clubs in the grassroots are suffering. Sports organisations around Europe and the world are looking for solutions – such as opportunities to engage sport club members isolated at home – and hoping for a rapid alleviation of the pandemic. With the situation changing country by country and day by day, it is impossible to plan activities as far as a few months ahead.

For the time being, all ENGSO meetings, such as Committee meetings and working meetings, are organised at an online basis, and our staff members are working from home.

We continue our communication activities on our website and social media channels, encouraging our followers to remain physically active while practicing social distancing, and sharing tips for sport clubs and other sports organisations to cope with the current situation.
