24th General Assembly
13-15 May 2016, Vilnius, Lithuania
ENGSO welcomes Cyprus in ENGSO and Albania in ENGSO Executive Committee
On 13-15 May 2016, 59 representatives of ENGSO members and partners from 23 countries gathered in the city of Vilnius, Lithuania, to participate in the statutory meeting of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisations. The General Assembly gave an opportunity to member organisations to influence the work of ENGSO. Among others, a position in the ENGSO Executive Committee was open for election, but the Assembly also adopted new statutes, approved yearly budget and activities for 2015, and voted on the accession of Cyprus and the formal integration of the European Women and Sport Network's work into ENGSO's structure.
ENGSO is glad to welcome the Cyprus Sport Organisation as new ENGSO Member and Stavri Bello, the Secretary General of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, as a new ENGSO Executive Committee Member. We are also happy to announce that the work of the European Women and Sport network (EWS) was formally integrated into ENGSO. EWS has been an independent Europe-wide informal network of experts on gender equality, and it is a great honour for ENGSO that EWS decided to join one specific organisation: ENGSO.
ENGSO would especially thank the Lithuanian Union of Sport for hosting and co-organising the event. We would also like to express our acknowledgement to our partners, the European Lotteries, the European Commission, the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport of the Council of Europe and the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation for honouring our event with their presence.
ENGSO would be honoured by your participation in the 24th General Assembly that will be organsed in Vilnius, Lithuania, and hosted by the Lithuanian Union of Sport Federations on 13-14 May 2016. At the same occasion, the ENGSO Youth Assembly and ENGSO EU Seminar will also be organised. The programme will start on 13 May at 14:30 and end in the afternoon on 14 May. The deadline for registration is 18 April 2016.
The General Assembly will among other procedures elect a Secretary General and an Executive Committee Member. Nominations (CV, motivation letter and the election form) for the positions should be sent to ENGSO Secretary General at the latest on 12 April 2016.
We are planning to organise an extraordinary General Assembly in conjunction with the GA with the purpose of changing the Statutes. If you have any proposals or remarks, please send them to ENGSO Secretary General at the latest 12 April 2016.
All the materials are found beneath, and will be sent by email at the latest 20 days before the General Assembly. For all additional information you may need, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the ENGSO Secretary General Helena Carlsson at email@example.com.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to Vilnius in May!

Election of Secretary General and an Executive Committee Member
ENGSO is looking for volunteers for the position of ENGSO Secretary General and an Executive Committee Members.
The ENGSO Secretary General is mainly responsible for membership issues, general communication with members and partners, as well as organising Executive Committee meetings and events.
An ENGSO Executive Committee Member helps with the running of ENGSO and the execution of decisions taken by the General Assembly.
Executive Committee Members are elected for a period of 1 year and shall meet at least 4 times a year. Candidates shall be nominated by an ENGSO member organisation or the Executive Committee.
We understand that candidates' time and enthusiasm are precious, so we want our volunteers to get the most out of their experience with us. There are many aspects of our organisations to get involved with, from advocating for different sport issues (health, participation, social inclusion, volunteering, fight against match-fixing, gender equality ) and increasing the visibility of ENGSO, to promoting children and youth in sport.
We invite you to share your ideas, skills and enthusiasm with us, in return gain in-depth experience of how our organisations act in the field of European sports policy.
If it sounds like something you would be part of, we would kindly ask you to send your application, including CV, motivation letter and the election form (found below), to ENGSO Secretary General Helena Carlsson at email@example.com.
Deadline for application: 12 April 2016
