20th General Assembly
22-26 May 2012, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
ENGSO General Assembly, hosted by the Bulgarian Union for Physical Culture and Sports, took place on 25-26 May 2012 in beautiful Sunny Beach in Bulgaria. Premises were excellent for this 20th Jubilee General Assembly in the coast of Black Sea and participants enjoyed Bulgarian hospitality during the weekend.
Elections took place during the General Assembly as the ENGSO Executive Committee member Michael Trinker from Austrian Sports Confederation had stepped down and Louis Kilcoyne passed away in April after a short and difficult illness. There were four candidates for these two free positions: Claude Azema from French National Olympic and Sports Committee, Lotte Bchert from Danish NOC and Sports Confederation,Karin Mattsson Weijber from Swedish Sports Confederation and Kurt Steiner from Austrian Sports Confederation. After Kurt Steiner?s withdrawal, Karin Mattson Weijber, President of the Swedish Sports Confederation and Lotte Bchert, member of board of the Danish NOC and Sports Confederation were elected as new members of the ENGSO Executive Committee.
Before the ordinary General Assembly, an Extraordinary General Assembly was organized to adopt changes to the ENGSO statutes. ENGSO members adopted new statutes which now allow new organisations to join ENGSO. According to the new statutes Members of ENGSO shall be 1) National Confederations of Sport, 2) National Olympic Committees, 3) European Sport Federations, 4) European Organisations related to sport.
