15 thousand children celebrated the Kosovan Olympic Day

On 27th May, our member, the National Olympic Committee of Kosovo celebrated the 27th anniversary of its foundation. 25 municipalities across the country joined the celebration that was attended by 15000 children, who were all born in 2008, when Kosovo declared its independence.

The main activity was held in Pristina, which was attended by Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who joined in the run, while Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi attended the opening of the Olympic Day celebrations in Ferizaj.

The President of the National Olympic Committee, Besim Hasani, congratulated the children on their participation in the celebrations year after year:

“Children of Pristina, you were only four years old in 2012, when you joined in for the first time. Today there are about 15 thousand of you who have run all across Kosovo. Congratulations to all of you,” said President Hasani.

The Director of the Department of Sport in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ibër Alaj, congratulated the National Olympic Committee on the well-organised event, whereas he addressed the kids with the message to #BeActive in sports.
