On 1 July 2010 Belgium took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the following six months. In the field of sport, the Presidency, led by the Flemish ministry responsible for sports, wants to emphasise the social role of sport; education and training, the fight against doping and social inclusion will be high on the agenda. The structured dialogue with the sports movement will also be discussed.

16-17 September, Informal Meeting of the Sport Directors, Genval

13-14 October European Conference on Local Sport Participation: Participation Through Social Inclusion, Leuven

21-22 October Informal Meeting of the EU Ministers for Sport, Antwerp

18 November formal Council Meeting of the Sports Ministers, Brussels

18-19 December European Day of the Trainer, Gent
